Biblioteket som metafor?

Abstract

Library as a metaphor?

The article discusses the concept of library in different contexts: as descriptions of real, physical entities called libraries, as ways of describing spaces of memories and events, organised both within ourselves and in computer memories. The writer gives some examples on text fragments and speech fragments that might provide some interesting discussion. Theoretical inspiration has been given by the sociology of Erving Goffman and the concept of metaphor as described by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson. The writer of this article means that the concept of library requires that there must be some basic elements, at least, and that the concept also can mean a structure, not only a storage and that there is a change going, on driven by the digitisation of information. This change can been studied also through everyday life.
