Biblioteksdesign med IT - fraktaler och paradigmer

Abstract

Discussed are new concepts for public library interior design and the impact of IT on the library's physical environment. The theoretical framework behind the new public library in Malmö is pointing towards a paradigmatic shift in library interior design. The 'three-divisioned library' concept and the 'fractal library' concept, both embodied in Germany, are also presented in context with empirical observations and interviews from a study tour to Germany October 1997. Finally some considerations concerning the future of library services and the interdependency between the physical and the virtual library.
