Konsten är inte endast digital

Abstract

Composer David Cope has created a computer software that emulates other composers, writing, e g, an almost frighteningly lookalike Chopin mazurka. This example of information technology in the service of the arts is not included in this report that instead dwells at length on Harold Cohen's artistic computer program Aaron, raising important questions as to what art is. IT offers yet another go at creating the all-encompassing art work, new vistas for the communication between artist and public, as well as for the public's participation in the act of creation. More obvious are the effects on distribution and new tacks on problems regarding immaterial property rights.
