Hur används informationsbegreppet? - en jämförande studie mellan två forskningsområden

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine and discuss the use of the information concept in two different research fields - the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) and the field of Nursing Informatics. A literature survey shows that there is a major difference between the fields in the way they use the information concept. In Nursing Informatics the concept refers to task dependent information like the patient record or the patient himself. Studies within LIS, on the other hand, often use an information concept where information takes the form of written and established sources which can be represented in databases. The LIS concept postulates that the same information can be used in many different tasks. It is here suggested that LIS normally studies the use of information in very complex tasks, while Nursing Informatics studies the use of information in less complex every day tasks.
